Continuing Education

 

In addition to initial training, all personnel must attend monthly team training sessions, quarterly confined space rescue training, and meet annual training requirements.

 

Physical exams are required every two years.

 

Personnel also attend annual conferences in Baltimore, MD and Cleveland, OH to help maintain their current skills and to stay focused on state-of-the-art techniques and equipment.

Qualifications

 

·          All Haz-Mat Team Members must be firefighters who have completed their probationary period and have been recommended by their fire chief.

·          In addition to 24 hours of Hazmat Operations Training, all team members must complete:

·          Hazmat Technician—40 hours

·          WMD Technician—12 hours

·          Confined Space Rescue—24 hours

·          Incident Command for Hazmat—12 hours
