Meth Lab Fire
Garfield Heights, Ohio
Garfield Heights Fire Department responded to a house fire in a residential area.
While fighting the fire, firefighters became aware of chemicals and other clues that made them suspicious that an illicit drug lab may have been operating in the house. Police also developed intel that made them suspicious.
Once the fire was extinguished, police secured the scene and obtained warrants to further investigate the scene.
The next morning hazmat teams members wearing special protective clothing monitored in the house to determine the safety of the atmosphere for other investigators.
Once safety was determined, narcotics investigators processed the lab, and finally fire investigators determined the cause of the fire.
This is a good example of Unified Command working well.
No one was injured in the fire or investigation.
